At Jamestown in 1953, Walters hit .320 and drove in 128 runs. Playing for the Phillies
on May 16, 1960, he became the 14th outfielder in ML history to record two assists
in one inning.

The Phils ship Chico Fernandez and Ray Semproch to Detroit for Ken Walters, Ted Lepcio, and minor leaguer Alex Cosmidis. The Cuban born Fernandez was the first black for the Phils, and will be the second black to play for Detroit.
