As a publicity stunt, on September 11, 1932 Chicago's Charles Comiskey advertised
the battery of Ed Walsh and Billy Sullivan, sons of the star battery of the 1906
World Champion White Sox. The younger Walsh was the victim of rheumatic fever, which
robbed him of the strength to capitalize on his inherited talent. However, while
pitching for Oakland (Pacific Coast League) on July 26, 1933, he was strong enough
to hang an 0-5 collar on Joe DiMaggio, snapping his 61-game hitting streak.
