At 6'3", Wallaesa was one of the tallest shortstops ever. He led the International
League with 45 home runs in 1941 but then lost almost four years to WWII. Despite
batting lessons from Babe Ruth and Lefty O'Doul, only once in five ML trials did
he hit more than .200.
