The brother of major leaguer Gee Walker, Hub was a
lefthanded-hitting backup outfielder.
He joined the Tigers late in 1945 after a seven-year absence from the majors which
included military service from 1942 to 1944. Though Walker was technically ineligible
for the World Series, Commissioner Happy Chandler waived the rules. Walker hit a
pinch double in two WS at-bats as the Tigers became World Champions.
