Vukovich was an adequate lefthanded hitter and a strong-armed outfielder. In strike-shortened 1981, his home run off the Expos' Jeff Reardon won Game Four of the NL Eastern Division playoff for Philadelphia. The Phillies sent him to Cleveland as part of a five-for-one trade for Von Hayes in December 1982. Platooning, he led the Indians with a .304 batting average in 1984, but after hitting .244 in 1985, he was sold to Japan's Seibu Lions. (ME)
