Veryzer became the Tigers' shortstop in 1975, when he was named to the Topps' Rookie
All-Star team, and remained through 1977. Supplanted by Alan Trammell, he was traded
to the Indians for Charlie Spikes. In four seasons as a starter for Cleveland, he
twice batted .271. Despite an adequate bat and a good glove, he never put solid seasons
back to back, partly due to injuries.
