Umbarger's only winning season came for the Rangers in his rookie 1975 season, when he was 8-7 with a 4.12 ERA, starting and relieving. In the rotation the next year, he improved his ERA to 3.15 but was 10-12. Traded to the A's with Rodney Scott and cash in 1977, he was bought back by the Rangers before the end of the season. (WOR)
