Signed by Detroit out of Bradley University, where he also played football, Tuttle
excelled on defense, twice leading AL outfielders in putouts and in assists. His
best offensive year was 1959, when he hit .300 for Kansas City. On May 28 of that
year, he had four hits, including a home run, against Cleveland. He wore number 13
throughout his career.
