Turner played in a Cleveland-record 1,617 games in 15 seasons, splitting most of his time between shortstop and third base. Generally a subpar hitter, he nevertheless hit .308 in 1912 and three times broke up no-hitters. Because normal slides hurt his ankles, he pioneered the use of the headfirst slide. (ME)
FROM THE BASEBALL CHRONOLOGY
» April 20, 1910: Cleveland's Addie Joss pitches his 2nd no-hitter 1–0 over Chicago. Joss's 10 assists help prevent any infield spoilers. Terry Turner's 6th inning double off Doc White scores the Naps only run.

» May 12, 1910: The Athletics Chief Bender pitches a 4–0 no-hitter against the Naps, missing a perfect game with one walk. Terry Turner walks in the 4th off the Chief and then is caught stealing. Bender will be 23–5, one of only two 20-game-win seasons the future Hall of Famer will have in 15 years.

» June 30, 1914: Cleveland's Terry Turner ends a long dry spell by hitting a three-run homer off the Browns Earl Hamilton. Turner's last home run was back in 1906: he had gone 3,186 at bats without a round tripper.
