Books and articles about Tommy Tucker

A flashy first baseman who would make one-handed scoops with his small glove in an era when using two hands was normal, Tucker led the American Association in batting with .372 for Baltimore in his third season. Nicknamed for his loudmouthed style as a base coach, he was once assaulted by Philadelphia fans after leading Boston's stalling tactics in hope of a rainout. He tied the ML record with four doubles in a game on July 22, 1893 and went 6-for-6 on July 15, 1897. (JK)
