Although Tsitouris pitched in 11 different ML seasons, he was a regular starter only in 1963-65 with the Reds. In 1963 he used an excellent : x x curveball (and an occasional spitball, some said) to go 12-8, which included three shutouts. (RTM)
FROM THE BASEBALL CHRONOLOGY
» November 20, 1957: The KC Athletics trade infielder Billy Martin, outfielders Gus Zernial and Lou Skizas, pitchers Maury McDermott and Tom Morgan, and C Charlie Thompson to Detroit. In exchange, the Tigers send outfielders Bill Tuttle, Jim Small, pitchers Duane Maas and John Tsitouris, C Frank House, SS Kent Hadley, and a player to come later.

» January 26, 1961: The Reds send Joe Nuxhall to the KC A's for pitchers John Tsitouris and John Briggs. Nuxhall first pitched for the Reds in 1944 when he was 15 years old.

» July 3, 1963: At Houston, the Reds John Tsitouris allows just two hits in beating Houston, 2–1. Cincy collects just two hits in the win, scoring the first run on Johnny Edwards homer and the 2nd when Rusty Staub misses a pickoff throw from Hal Woodeshick and Pete Rose scores from 1B.

» September 27, 1963: At St. Louis, the Reds John Tsitouris pitches a 2-hit, 3–0 shut out over the Cardinals. In his last three starts, Tsitouris has pitched three shutouts and allowed eight hits.

» April 18, 1964: Jim Maloney tosses six innings of no-hit ball against the Dodgers, before leaving with a pulled muscle. John Tsitouris relieves and pitches hitless ball until two are out in the 9th inning when Frank Howard beats out an infield single. Sandy Koufax fans the side on nine pitches in the 3rd inning, becoming the first National League pitcher to do it twice (and matching Lefty Grove), but Cincinnati wins, 3–0, on Deron Johnson's 3-run homer.

» September 21, 1964: John Tsitouris hurls a 1–0 shutout for the Reds over Art Mahaffey and the first-place Phillies, launching a 10-game Phils' losing streak. Rookie Chico Ruiz scores the only run when, with Frank Robinson at bat, he steals home with two out in the 6th inning.
