Trujillo made it to the majors as a middle reliever and spot starter for Boston in
1985. Late in 1986, Trujillo went to Seattle in a waiver deal connected to the trade
that sent Dave Henderson and Spike Owen to the Red Sox for Rey Quinones. On September
20, 1986, in his second start as a Mariner, Trujillo threw a one-hitter (the second
in franchise history) against the Royals. Trujillo started the 1987 season in the
Mariners' rotation but was bounced to the bullpen and then to Calgary (Pacific Coast
League). Recalled in 1987, he was plagued by home runs, allowing 12 in 66 innings.
