A "good-field, no-hit" utility man, Tracewski trained as a shortstop in the Dogers' system but provided insurance at three infield positions on three World Champions. He filled in brilliantly at second base in the 1963 and 1965 World Series. He started all four games of the Dodgers' 1963 sweep of the Yankees; his fifth-inning, diving stop for a force play in a scoreless tie was the defensice key to the Dodgers' 2-1 Game Four victory. He served in the same capacity with the Tigers as he had in Los Angeles, and appeared in two games of the 1968 series. (JL)
