Likable and consistent, Todt was the Red Sox' first baseman while they finished last
in the AL for six straight seasons. He led the league's first basemen in fielding
(.997) in 1928, but he was handicapped as a lefthanded hitter by Fenway Park's deep
centerfield and right-field fences.
