The Yankees trade four pitchers, including Fritz Peterson and Steve Kline, to the Indians for 1B Chris Chambliss and hurlers Dick Tidrow and Cecil Upshaw.

In the first of two games, Hank Aaron hits a left field double off Dick Tidrow of the Yankees, tying Babe Ruth's career RBI record (later revised) of 2,209. The Brewers win 7-0. Aaron has no ribbies in game 2, as the Yankees win 10-1.
» June 19, 1977:
At Fenway, Yankee pitchers help put the Red Sox in the record books when they serve up five gopher balls (Doyle, Carbo, Rice, Yaz, Scott) in an 11–1 pasting for the 3rd loss in a row. Yastrzemski's homer, served up by Dick Tidrow, is a towering drive down the RF line off the RF facade (to the right of the retired #'s) the only player to ever reach that height. No one else has ever come close to duplicating that feat. The Bosox hit a record 16 homers in three victories over the Yankees (six on the 17th; five on the 18th) It wasn't the wind, as New York goes homerless in the series.
» August 14, 1977: The Yankees collect 15 hits, including homers by Rivers and Nettles, to swamp the Angels. 15–3. Dick Tidrow allows just two hits in six innings for the win.
» May 23, 1979:
The Yankees trade pitchers with the Cubs, sending Dick Tidrow to Chicago for Ray Burris. Tidrow will regain his form in the Windy City, while Burris will be just 1–3 in pinstripes before being banished to the Mets.
» May 20, 1981: At Wrigley, Reds reliever Doug Bair does it himself, hitting a 3-run homer in the 9th inning to beat the Cubs, 10–7. The homer, off Dick Tidrow, is Bair's only ML dinger.
» January 26, 1983: The White Sox trade pitchers Steve Trout and Warren Brusstar to the Cubs for pitchers Randy Martz and Dick Tidrow and infielders Pat Tabler and Scott Fletcher.
