Theobald was an All-American at Arizona State. Signed by the Cubs, he played in the Twins and Senators organizations before being traded to the Brewers. Milwaukee's second baseman for two seasons, in 1971 the scrappy, 5'8" Theobald hit .276 (second on the club) and led the AL with 19 sacrifice hits. In 1972 he and Rick Auerbach formed a punchless double play combination with three HR and 49 RBI between them, although Theobald made just six errors in his 113 games at second base. (PB)
