Signed by the Braves for a $100,000 bonus as an 18-year-old in 1957, Taylor never lived up to his billing as a power hitter. Milwaukee gave up on him in 1963, selling him to the Mets. He appeared in more than half his ML games as a pinch hitter; in 1969 he led the AL with 49 pinch at-bats for the Royals. (CR)
