» June 21, 1975: In the opener of a DH, the Angels Frank Tanana strikes out 17 Rangers without a walk during a 42 win. Texas cops the nitecap, 65.
» August 15, 1975: Frank Tanana pitches an 80 shutout as the Angels hand the Tigers their 19th straight loss.
» September 6, 1976: California's Frank Tanana strikes out 15 batters in 10 innings but is not involved in a decision. Oakland wins in the 11th, 21.
» September 11, 1976: Minnie Minoso comes to bat for the White Sox after a 12-year hiatus. He goes hitless in his three at bats against Frank Tanana, but his appearance makes him one of a handful of ML players to play in four decades. His at bat in 1980 will match him with Nick Altrock as a 5-decade player.
» April 6, 1977: The Seattle Mariners make their debut, losing to Frank Tanana and the Angels 70. In relief for the M's is Diego Segui, who pitched in the Seattle Pilots Opener in 1969.

Frank Tanana applies the calcimine in California's 60 win over Baltimore and teammates Bobby Bonds, Don Baylor, and Ron Jackson provide the offense with consecutive homers in the 2nd inning.
» May 30, 1977: Twenty-two-year-old Dennis Eckersley (53) fires a no-hitter as the Indians top the Angels, 10. Eck walks one and strikes out 12. Frank Tanana (82) with three shutouts in his last four games, takes the loss. The only run comes in the 1st inning when Duane Kuiper lines a ball to CF Gil Flores that skips under his glove for a triple. Jim Norris ten squeezes Kuiper home.
» July 3, 1977: On his 24th birthday, Angel Frank Tanana records his 14th straight complete game in beating the A's 64, and raising his record to 12-5. His overworked arm would plague him for the rest of the season, and he would wind up 15-9.
» September 25, 1979:
Frank Tanana pitches a 41 victory over the Royals to clinch the first-ever American League West title for the Angels.
» January 23, 1981: Faced with the possibility of losing star OF Fred Lynn to free agency because of a front-office blunder, the Red Sox trade Lynn and P Steve Renko to the Angels for pitchers Frank Tanana and Jim Dorsey and OF Joe Rudi. The Players' Association contends that Lynn and C Carlton Fisk are free agents because the Red Sox failed to mail their new contracts by the deadline provided for in the Basic Agreement. Lynn signs a 4-year deal with the Angels and agrees to drop his case. Fisk's case will go to arbitration.
» January 5, 1982: Free-agent pitcher Frank Tanana, 4-10 for Boston last season, signs a 2-year contract with Texas.
» June 24, 1984: Oakland's Joe Morgan hits his 265th career home run as a 2B, breaking Rogers Hornsby's major-league record for that position. Morgan, who has 267 home runs overall, connects off Frank Tanana in the first inning of the A's 42 win over Texas.
» April 28, 1985:
In Billy Martin's first game as New York manager, Larry Parrish belts three home runs to power the Rangers to a 75 win over the Yankees. It is Parrish's 4th career 3-HR game but his first in the American League, making him only the 5th player to accomplish the feat in each league. The Yanks lose a homer in the 4th when, with two men on, Bobby Meacham hits a Frank Tanana ball that just reaches the stands. Running hard, Meacham collides with teammate Willie Randolph who was returning to 1B to tag up. Meacham is given a two-run single.
» August 2, 1985: Frank Tanana of the Tigers allows one hita home run by Ben Oglivie in the 5thin beating the Brewers, 41. Tanana (6-10) K's eight while walking 1.
» October 4, 1987: On the last day of the regular season, Detroit beats 2nd-place Toronto 10 at Tiger Stadium to win the American League East title. The Tigers were one game behind the Blue Jays entering their 3-game season-ending showdown, and won each game by a single run (43, 32, and 10). Frank Tanana outduels Jimmy Key in the finale, and Larry Herndon's 2nd-inning home run provides the game's only run.
» April 28, 1990: Frank Tanana wins his 200th career game, as Detroit tops Milwaukee, 135.
» October 3, 1990:
At Pittsburgh, Frank Viola wins his 20th when the Mets beat the Pirates 63. In front of his hometown fans, New York's Chris Jelic homers, his first, last, and only hit in the majors. It comes off Doug Bair on his last at bat. Buc Jerry Reuss, in his only start this year, gives up one earned run, a home run to Tim Teufel in the 6th, but gets no decision in his last appearance in the majors. Reuss, with four appearances this year, joins the exclusive 4-decade club (1969-90) and also closes out his career with 220 wins, but never 20 in a season, a ML record. Milt Pappas also won 200 that way as did Frank Tanana this year. Tanana will end his career with 233 wins and no 20-win seasons.
» April 18, 1991:
The White Sox play the first game ever in the new Comiskey Park, losing 16-0 to the Tigers. Frank Tanana hurls the 7-hit shutout for Detroit.
» October 1, 1991:
At Fenway, the Tigers outhit the Red Sox to win, 85. Frank Tanana (1212) evens his record. Wade Boggs has a pair of doubles to top the 40 mark for the 7th straight year. Only Joe Medwick has done this in ML history.
» July 21, 1992:
Randy Johnson (511) strikes out 13 batters in six innings, but gives up six runs3 earnedin losing to Detroit, 62. Frank Tanana is the winner. It is Johnson's 8th loss in a row, the longest losing streak for an American League starter this year.
» September 17, 1993:
In a last try for the pennant, the Yankees obtain 40-year-old vet Frank Tanana from the Mets for minor league P Kenny Greer. Tanana will go 02 to finish out his career at 240236, and set a major-league record for most wins without racking up a 20-win season.
