The son of George "Good Kid" Susce, a marginal catcher and longtime ML coach, the
younger Susce went 9-7 as a Red Sox rookie, including a one-hitter against the A's,
for whom his father was then a coach. Used mostly in relief in subsequent years,
he won six games out of the bullpen in 1957.
