Straker spent 10 full seasons in the minors, including seven in the Reds' organization,
before making the Twins as their number-three starter in 1987. He went 8-10, 4.37
that year, and became the first Venezuelan ever to pitch in the WS when he started
Games Three and Six. He spent most of 1988 on the DL.
