The older brother of George Stovall, Jesse started promisingly when he went 5-1 with
a 2.05 ERA for the Indians in 1903, but fell off to 3-13, 4.42 after the Tigers acquired
him for 1904.

»September 3, 1903: Cleveland P Jesse Stovall hurls an 11-inning shutout in his first ML start, defeating Detroit 1-0. It is the longest shutout ever in a pitching debut.

George Stovall of Cleveland hits his first HR, and it comes off his older brother Jesse Stovall, pitching for Detroit in his last game. It marks the first time one brother gives up a HR to another, a feat which will be duplicated by the Ferrells in 1933, and the Niekros in 1976.
