The aloof Stigman was an All-Star as a hard-throwing, 6'3" rookie with Cleveland in 1960, though he finished the season 5-11. He won a career-high 15 games for Minnesota in 1963. (JCA)

» June 10, 1960: In New York, Mickey Mantle cracks his 3rd homer in three days to ruin a good relief effort by Cleveland's Dick Stigman. The 8th inning solo shot gives New York a 4–3 win.

» July 18, 1960: The Yanks score five runs in the 3rd off Dick Stigman, and Whitey Ford coasts to a complete game 9–2 victory over the Indians.

» April 2, 1962: The Twins trade P Pedro Ramos to Cleveland for 1B Vic Power and P Dick Stigman.

» September 5, 1962: Washington's John Kennedy pinch hits against the Twins and becomes the 9th American League player to debut with a home run in his first at bat. His blow breaks up a no-hit bid by Dick Stigman, and the Nats rally to tie the game at 7–7 in the 9th, The Twins win 9–7 in 11 frames, then drop the nitecap, 3–0, as Claude Osteen fires a three hitter. The split leaves the Twins two 1/2 games behind the Yankees.
