FROM THE BASEBALL CHRONOLOGY
» August 9, 1951: In the Braves 5–4 win over the Phillies, catcher Ebba St. Claire participates in three double plays to tie the ML record. The record will be topped in the American League, but not till 1999 will another NL backstop be in three DPs in a game.

» May 23, 1952: Sal Maglie wins his 8th without a loss, stopping the Braves, 5–3. Maglie tires in the 9th, giving up three hits, including a 2-run homer by Ebba St. Claire. Al Dark's 2-run homer in the 5-run 4th is the big blow for the Giants, who stay a half-game in back of the Dodgers.

» May 25, 1999: In Arizona's 5–4 win over San Diego, the D'backs Damian Miller becomes only the 8th ML catcher to participate in three double plays in a 9-inning game, tying the NL record for DPs and tying the major-league record for DPs started by a catcher. The last N.L. catcher to participate in three DPs was Ebba St. Claire of the Boston Braves in 1950. Chris Hoiles was part of four double plays for the Orioles on April 9, 1998.
