The native Samoan was regarded as one of the strongest men in the ML. He occasionally hit with tremendous power, including a three-homer game (9/7/74), but not often enough to be more than a part-time ML player and DH. When he was first called up, in 1968, he had just hit 49 HR with a .302 BA for High Point-Thomasville of the Class-A Carolina League, but had also made 20 errors at first base. In four seasons of Japanese baseball (1980-83) he hit 155 homers. (EW)
