Mostly a reliever, Sleater battled control problems, walking more batters (172) than he struck out (152). Pitching for the Senators against Boston in 1952, he halted Walt Dropo's ML-record streak of hitting safely in 12 consecutive at-bats. (RTM)

» July 31st, 1951: The Browns acquire Cliff Mapes from the Yankees, sending Bobbie Hogue, Kermit Wahl, Tom Upton and Lou Sleater to New York. The trade frees up an outfield spot for Mantle's return as well as Mapes #7 uniform.

» April 28th, 1955: The Kansas City Athletics sign P Vic Raschi, who has just been released by the Cardinals. The Athletics purchase P Lou Sleater from the Yankees for cash.
