The youngest son of Hall of Famer George Sisler and brother of major leaguer Dick
Sisler, Dave was a 6'4", bespectacled Princeton graduate. Upon returning from the
military in 1956, he started and relieved for Boston, but worked exclusively out
of the bullpen after his 1959 trade to Detroit. In 1960 he recorded a career-best
2.48 ERA with seven wins and six saves.

»September 2, 1958: At Yankee Stadium, New York snaps a scoreless tie with Boston when Yogi Berra and Mickey Mantle crash back-to-back 6th inning homers off Dave Sisler. Mantle has hit three this year of Sisler. New York wins, 6–1. Mantle, with 38 homers, leads the American League. Mantle and Berra will hit back-to-back homers 12 times together, and homer in the same game 50 times before they are through.

The Red Sox send P Dave Sisler and 2B Ted Lepcio to the Tigers for P Billy Hoeft, then trade Hoeft on June 15 to Baltimore for P Jack Harshman. Harshman will last a month before he's sold to the Indians.
