» August 10, 1991: The game between the Astros and Braves was delayed for five minutes when a moth became lodged in the ear of Houston OF Mike Simms. Astros trainer Dave Labossiere removed the insect with a pair of tweezers. The Braves record a 4-0 victory when the game is finally completed.

The Astros defeat the Reds, 10-1, in a game marked by a bench-clearing brawl that will lead to suspensions for Xavier Hernandez (8 games), Doug Drabek (5), Pat Borders (5), Ron Gant (4), Davey Johnson (2), and Terry Collins (2). Intentional walks backfire twice for Cincy. Ahead 1–0, they walk Jeff Bagwell in the 3rd (with Craig Biggio on 2B and one out)and Mike Simms homers. Undeterred, the Reds gave a free pass to pinch-hitter Dave Magadan in the 7th (with men on 2B and 3B and one out) and the score just 4–1. Derrick May then hits a grand slam.
» April 2, 1998: Kevin Elster, Mike Simms, Juan Gonzalez, Ivan Rodriguez, and Lee Stevens all homer as Texas pounds out a 20–4 win over the White Sox. The Rangers, with 23 safeties, tie an American League record as nine players have two or more hits in the contest.
» September 19, 1998:
Texas strikes two home run marks today. Mike Simms of the Rangers hits his 16th home run of the year to tie the major league mark for most home runs with less than 200 at bats in a season. Eddie Robinson of the Yankees and Bob Thurman of the Reds accomplished the feat in 1955 and 1957, respectively. Juan Gonzalez belts his 300th career homer, off Jimmy Haynes, but the Rangers lose to Oakland, however, 8–4.
