FROM THE BASEBALL CHRONOLOGY
» August 23, 1991: The Rangers 6-1 win over the Royals is marked by an unusual play in the 8th inning. KC's 2B Terry Shumpert is charged with a 4-base error when he collides with RF Danny Tartabull while going back on a short fly hit by Juan Gonzalez. Gonzalez and the two runners in front of him score as the ball rolls all the way to the warning track.

» September 6, 1991: The White Sox score 10 runs in the 4th inning of a game against the Royals, all with two outs. Chicago wins by a score of 11-2. Bo Jackson drives in three runs with his first two hits since returning from a serious hip injury. Slugger Frank Thomas receives a mauling, bruising his wrist in a 2nd inning collision with Terry Shumpert, then chipping two front teeth when his is hit in the mouth with a ball thrown by pitcher Charlie Hough. Hough gets a throwing error on the toss.

» May 7, 1993: In a Triple-A game between the Omaha Royals and Oklahoma City 89ers, the Royals explode for four consecutive home runs with two outs in the 8th inning of their 11-4 victory. Karl Rhodes, Terry Shumpert, Russ McGinnis, and Bob Hamelin all connected for Omaha, off Gerald Alexander. After the next batter made the 3rd out, Benny Distefano led off the 9th for Oklahoma City with a homer, making five round-trippers in six batters. The Royals win, 11–4. Only once before in the minors have there been four straight homers hit: for Tulsa (Western League) on July 1, 1923. Lyman Smith, Jocko Conlan, Wes Griffin, and Jim Blakesley hit home runs off Wichita's Karl Black. They were the first four batters of the contest in the opener of a doubleheader.

» December 13, 1994: The Red Sox acquire 2B Terry Shumpert from the Royals in exchange for a player to be named.
