As a Met rookie in 1967, Shaw got the save in Tom Seaver's first career victory (4/20 versus the Cubs). Drafted by the expansion Expos, he won Montreal's inaugural game, relieving in an 11-10 victory at New York on April 8, 1969. (KT)

» August 11, 1967: The Mets Danny Frisella picks up his first ML win, but he's long gone when the W is posted. Frisella pitches six 2/3 innings before being lifted, then races the airport to catch a plane to take him to an Air National Guard meeting in California. Don Shaw picks up the save in the 3–2 win over the Pirates.
