» Doris O'Donnell by Dorothy Jane Mills

On his way to becoming a history professor, Seymour earned his PhD at Cornell with a dissertation on the history of baseball. Out of that grew the first volume of a planned three-volume history of baseball, Baseball: The Early Years. The second volume, The Golden Age, covered the 1903-1930 era. Dr. Seymour was a batboy with the Dodgers in the 1920s and managed amateur and semi-pro teams in Brooklyn. (NLM)
