Schulmerich was a powerful, 5'11" 210-lb righthander who starred as a fullback at
Oregon State. He once batted .380 for Los Angeles of the Pacific Coast League. He
hit .318 for the Braves and Phillies in 1933, but was soon back in the PCL.
