Books and articles about Art Scharein

Scharein had more range than any other third baseman in his time. Although he never played enough games to qualify for percentage titles, he led AL third basemen in double plays in 1933 (in 95 games). He hit .304 in his rookie 1932 season but dropped exactly 100 points the next year. The arrival of heavy-hitting Harlond Clift effectively ended his career. His brother was Phillies' shortstop George Scharein. (WOR)
