» April 22, 1999: Tampa Bay defeats Baltimore, 1–0, as Ps Tony Saunders, Jim Mecir and Roberto Hernandez combine on a 1–hitter. SS Mike Bordick's single with two outs in the 8th inning is the only hit Oriole hit.

» May 26, 1999: In the Devil Rays 8–6 loss to Texas, Rays P Tony Saunders breaks the humerus bone in his left arm while throwing a pitch in the 3rd inning. It is the same injury that Dave Dravecky suffered to end his career and Saunders is out for at least the rest of the season. Saunders gets a no decision as he allows three runs on four hits and a walk in two 2/3 IP.
