Sarni played for the Los Angeles Angels (Pacific Coast League) as a 15-year-old in
1943, but didn't make it to the ML to stay until 1954. He led NL catchers in fielding
as a rookie, while hitting .300. During spring training of
1957, he suffered a heart
attack that ended his playing career.
