Scout

Books and articles about Jack Ryan

A former minor league umpire, Ryan scouted for a variety of ML clubs for almost 40 years, 20 of which were spent with the Cardinals. He began scouting for the Browns in 1917, but in 1926 switched to the crosstown Cardinals, where he remained until 1945. From 1946 to 1955, Ryan evaluated talent for the Dodgers, Cubs, and Pirates.
