Rojek came up in 1942 but then lost the next three seasons to military service. Stuck
behind Pee Wee Reese in Brooklyn, he was sold to Pittsburgh for 1948 and was their
everyday shortstop for two years, leading the league in at-bats and NL shortstops
in assists in 1948 and reaching career highs in BA (.290), steals (24, third in the
league), HR (4), RBI (51), runs (85), and doubles (27). He dropped to .244 in 1949
and was never again a regular.
