FROM THE BASEBALL CHRONOLOGY
» May 10, 2001: The Giants score eight runs in the 6th inning and roll by the Expos, 13-0. Kirk Rueter goes eight innings for the win. Britt Reames loses his 4th in a row. The Giants, led by four by Armando Rios, collect 18 hits.

» May 27, 2001: Against the Rockies' Denny Neagle in the 1st inning, Barry Bonds of the San Francisco Giants hits the franchise's 12,000th home run. It is Bonds' 26th of the year. Only the Yankees have hit more. Neagle gives up all five runs, including solos to Armando Rios and Rich Aurilia, in the 5–4 loss to SF.

» July 30, 2001: The Giants obtain P Jason Schmidt and OF John Vander Wal from the Pirates in exchange for OF Armando Rios and P Ryan Vogelsong.

» April 4, 2002: In a 3–2 Mets loss to Pittsburgh, LF Joe McEwing has a good first inning hitting a leadoff home run and making an unassisted DP. He catches Armando Rios' soft liner and tags Jason Kendall running from 2B.
