FROM THE BASEBALL CHRONOLOGY
» July 11, 1990: Jack McKeon resigns as manager of the Padres but keeps his position as San Diego's vice president of baseball operations. He is replaced in the dugout by Greg Riddoch. Later in the season, McKeon will lose his front-office job as well.

» July 2, 1991: After grounding out in a 4-1 loss to the Dodgers, Padres C Benito Santiago throws his batting helmet in disgust. The helmet bounces into the dugout, where it strikes pitching coach Mike Roarke in the head before ricocheting over to bean coach Greg Riddoch, giving him a concussion. Santiago is fined $300.

» September 23, 1992: The Padres celebrate "Unemployment Night" by firing manager Greg Riddoch. He is replaced by Jim Riggleman. It doesn't help as the Astros beat San Diego, 7–6. Eric Anthony and Jeff Bagwell each hit their 17th home run for Houston, while Guillermo Velasquez pinch hits a 2–run homer for the Pads.
