FROM THE BASEBALL CHRONOLOGY
» July 31, 1996: The Phillies trade P Terry Mulholland, 33, to the Mariners in exchange for struggling blue chipper Desi Relaford.

» August 4, 2000: The Padres obtain SS Desi Relaford from the Phillies in exchange for a player to be named.

» May 17, 2001: Desi Relaford of the New York Mets became the third position player this year to take the mound as he pitches the ninth inning of a 15-3 blowout by the San Diego Padres. Relaford displays a 91-mph fastball as he fires a perfect inning. Starter Steve Trachsel takes the loss and sets a club record by serving up four homers (to Alex Arias, Rickey Henderson, Ryan Klesko, and Bubba Trammell) in the 3rd inning. The Pads set a team record with 11 extra base hits.

» December 16, 2001: The busy Mets make another deal, obtaining P Shawn Estes from the Giants in exchange for OF Tsuyoshi Shinjo and now expendable infielder Desi Relaford. They also sign free agent P Pedro Astacio, suffering from a torn labrum, to a one year contract worth $5 million.

» January 25, 2002: The Mariners deal 3B David Bell to the Giants in exchange for recently–acquired IF Desi Relaford and cash.

» April 27, 2002: The Mariners score a run in the bottom of the 8th inning to defeat the Yankees, 1–0, despite being 1–hit by NY's Ted Lilly. Desi Relaford's single with one out in the 8th inning scores the only run of the game.
