Joe Reichler

1916-1988

Writer

Books and articles about Joe Reichler

A graduate of St. John's University, Reichler probably wrote more baseball stories than anybody. With the Associated Press from 1943 to 1966, when he joined the Commissioner's office as director of public relations, he was known for his scoops on the Dodgers' move to Los Angeles, Joe DiMaggio's retirement, and many other stories. A prolific writer of magazine articles, he also edited the Macmillan Baseball Encyclopedia. Other books include It's Good to Be Alive (with Roy Campanella), Baseball's Greatest Moments, and The Game and the Glory. He received the J.G. Taylor Spink Award from the Hall of Fame in 1975. (NLM)
