He won five and saved eight for the 1970 Braves despite a career-worst 5.42 ERA.

»September 7, 1966: The Braves acquire veteran pitchers Hoyt Wilhelm and Bob Priddy from the Angels in exchange for minor league prospects Mickey Rivers and Clint Compton. It will only Hoyt for a little while as the Braves will waive the knuckleballer to the Cubs in September 1970.

Washington's Bob Priddy loses his 1–0 lead to the Yankees when Mickey Mantle clouts a 2-run pinch homer in the 8th and New York wins, 2–1. Mel Stottlemyre is the winner, allowing six hits and no walks. For Mantle, it is his 14th game-winning hit of the year, eight of them home runs.
