Povich arrived in Washington in 1924 from Bar Harbor, ME, and worked as a copy boy for the Post while studying law at Georgetown. He was still a student when he became sports editor. His column, "This Morning," appeared from 1926 to his retirement in 1974, except for time he spent as a war correspondent. Povich was president of the BBWAA in 1975 and a longtime correspondent for The Sporting AA x x News. In (A-h)h)h)1975 he received the J.G. Taylor Spink Award from the Hall of Fame. (NLM)
