Posedel joined the peacetime Navy as a teenager and, after he'd pitched the U.S.S. Saratoga to the Pac Fleet championship, was offered a professional contract. In 1939 he won 15 games for the seventh-place Braves. He returned to the Navy during WWII. Later, he became a ML coach. (JK)
