Plummer stuck with the Reds in 1972 after hitting 17 HR at Indianapolis (American Association), and remained in Cincinnati through 1977 backing up Johnny Bench. Plummer hit above .200 in only three seasons. (SFS)

» January 11, 1969: The Cubs obtain veteran reliever Ted Abernathy from the Reds for three minor leaguers, C Bill Plummer, OF Clarence Jones, and P Ken Myette.

» June 6, 1976: Reds backup catcher Bill Plummer collects seven RBIs in the Reds 13–2 win over the Cards. Plummer's hits include a solo homer, a 3-run triple, the only three bagger of his career.

» October 10, 1991: Manager Jim Lefebvre is fired by the Mariners and replaced by 3B coach Bill Plummer.

» April 16, 1992: Seattle manager Bill Plummer mistakenly fills out a lineup card with two first baseman and no DH. It doesn't help as the Mariners go on to lose the game to the White Sox, 5–4.

» October 13, 1992: The Mariners fire manager Bill Plummer.
