This native Chicagoan was the White Sox' long man in 1974. For a while, Pitlock's herky-jerky motion fooled hitters. He allowed the World Champion 1974 A's just one hit in his 5.1 innings against them, and they demanded his inclusion in a 1975 deal for Chet Lemon, yet he never played another ML game. (RL)
FROM THE BASEBALL CHRONOLOGY
» August 8, 1970: The Giants edge the Astros, 6–5, with the win going to reliever Don McMahon. Giants starter Skip Pitlock has his 1st and only ML homer (half his career hits), an inside-the-park liner off Wade Blasingame.
