Perritt was a promising young Cardinal pitcher. However, after he signed a Federal League contract in 1915, St. Louis traded him to the Giants. Manager John McGraw talked Perritt into returning to the NL, and he blossomed with the Giants. He won 18 games in both 1916 and 1918, and was 17-7 in the 1917 championship season. (AA)
