FROM THE BASEBALL CHRONOLOGY
» May 31, 1996: The Braves scalp the Reds, 9–1, as they bang out ML-record tying six solo homers in the process. Fred McGriff and Eddie Perez each hit two, as the Braves win their 10th in 12 games.

» September 16, 1997: For the 2nd straight day, the Giants lose on a home run, as the Braves win, 6–4. Eddie Perez's grand slam in the 6th gives the Braves a ML record-tying 11 slams for the year.

» August 18, 1998: Greg Maddux wins his 200th game as the Braves double up the Giants, 8–4. Maddux allows one earned run to lower his National League best ERA to 1.65. In a rarity, the Braves collect nine hits—all doubles. Gerald Williams, Danny Bautista and Walt Weiss have two apiece, while Eddie Perez drives in three runs with another.

» October 3, 1998: Atlanta sweeps the Cubs, winning Game Three by a score of 6–2. The Braves score five in the 8th, with Eddie Perez's grand slam off Rod Beck being the big blow.

» April 18, 1999: The Braves stroke 24 hits in pounding the Rockies, 20–5. Atlanta scores 10 runs in the 9th inning on the way to setting an Atlanta record for runs scored in a game. Andruw Jones has five hits, including a home run and triple, and drives home six runs, while Eddie Perez collects five singles. The Braves attack features at least one hit from everyone in the lineup except WP Greg Maddux.

» October 12, 1999: The Braves defeat the Mets, 4-2, in the opening game of the NLCS. Greg Maddux gets the win for Atlanta, as C Eddie Perez hits a home run.

» October 13, 1999: Atlanta takes a 2-game lead over NY in the NLCS with a 4-3 victory. The Braves score all four of their runs in the 6th inning on a pair of home runs by Brian Jordan and Eddie Perez off Mets starter Kenny Rogers. Kevin Millwood gets the win for Atlanta, with John Smoltz making his 1st relief appearance ever to get the save.

» October 19, 1999: The Braves defeat the Mets, 10-9 in 11 innings, to take the NLCS, 4-games-to-2. Atlanta blew leads of 5-0 and 7-3, as NY eventually tied the score on a home run by Mike Piazza. A bases loaded walk by Kenny Rogers with one out in the last half of the 11th brings home the winning run. Braves C Eddie Perez is voted MVP of the LCS.

» May 5, 2000: Atlanta C Eddie Perez is put on the DL with a torn rotator cuff, and is likely out for the season.
