A solid catcher who could fill in at first base, Pavletich was a career backup. In 1966, his most active season, he hit 12 home runs in 83 games for the Reds. (EW)

» September 19, 1964: In the 1st game of a doubleheader, the Reds stun the Cardinals 7–5 when Frank Robinson connects for a 3-run 9th inning home run off Bob Gibson. The Cards take the 2nd, 2–0, scoring both runs on C Don Pavletich's throwing error on a double steal. Ray Sadecki wins his 18th.

» July 19, 1966: At Chicago, Cubs Byron Browne strikes out five times against Reds starter Jim Maloney. The Reds finally win, 3–2, in 18 innings, with Joe Nuxhall victorious over Fergie Jenkins. Don Pavletich belts a homer in the 18th inning off Jenkins. In tomorrow's Reds win over the Cubs, Browne will K another three times to set a National League record for two games on his way to leading the NL in strikeouts with 143.

» June 11, 1967: At Crosley Field, Don Pavletich belts a pinch grand slam in the bottom of the 9th to give the Reds an 8–4 win over Houston.

» June 23, 1968: At Crosley Field, the Reds tip the Cubs, 9–8, when Don Pavletich hits a 2-out, 2-run double in the 9th inning.

» December 13, 1969: The Red Sox send 1B Syd O'Brien and pitcher Billy Farmer and cash to the White Sox for P Gary Peters and C Don Pavletich. Boston also picks up 3B Tom Matchick from the Tigers for Dalton Jones. Farmer will announce his retirement and in March the White Sox will replace him with P Jerry Jarneski.
