Parsons was the number-two starter for the last-place Brewers, going 13-17, 3.20
in 1971 and 13-13, 3.91 in 1972. He was named TSN's AL Rookie Pitcher of
the Year for his 1971 effort, and was runner-up to Chris Chambliss in the BBWAA vote
for Rookie of the Year.

Red Sox lead off batters Rick Miller and Reggie Smith belt homers off Milwaukee's Bill Parsons. In 1971, Smith also followed a leadoff homer with one of his own. Bill Lee makes the lead stand up in beating the Brewers' Bill Parsons, 3–2.
