Oakland got Page from the farm system of the heavy-hitting Pirates of the 1970s, and for one season the acquisition looked brilliant. Page was named TSN's 1977 AL Rookie of the Year (but lost out to Eddie Murray in the BBWAA award vote by three points) when he broke in with 21 HR, 42 steals, 75 RBI, 85 runs, eight triples, 28 doubles, and a .307 batting average. He also led AL outfielders in errors. He never matched even one of those totals again, and in 1979 was made a DH. (WOR)
